The 70₪ deposit on a power bank rental: how it works and when it clears
What a deposit actually is
When you rent, the station places a temporary 70₪ authorisation on your card. That is not the rental fee but security on the hardware, like a hold at a car rental desk or hotel check-in.
What you really pay
- 15₪ for the first hour
- A 30₪ maximum per rental day — the meter stops at the daily cap
- The 70₪ deposit is not added to the bill; it is released after return
When the deposit clears
After the power bank has been returned properly. How quickly the amount leaves your available balance depends on your bank: sometimes instantly, sometimes within a few business days. That is normal for card authorisations.
What counts as a proper return
- The station is powered and responsive
- Push the power bank into a free slot until it clicks
- The station recognises the unit and closes the rental
A power bank left on the counter, kept in a bag or only half inserted does not close the rental, and the daily rate keeps accruing to the cap.
If it is never returned
The deposit covers the value of the hardware and the rental closes. Important for venue owners: the venue is not liable for a customer's failure to return — the hardware is insured by Dead Batt.
Avoiding unnecessary charges
- Return at any station in the network, not necessarily the original one
- No app is needed to return
- If a slot does not respond, try another and message support on WhatsApp with the venue name
Summary
The deposit is simple security: 70₪ is held, the rental costs 15₪ for the first hour and up to 30₪ a day, and once the power bank is back in a station the hold is released.
